Courses
This institution offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses. A four-year course of study in different disciplines Painting, Visual Communication Design, and Sculpture is available. The first year of the course, known as the preparatory year, includes language papers in Tamil and English, as well as major papers (both theory and practical subjects). The remaining three years are dedicated to specialization. Each major discipline includes additional subjects as elective subjects, such as Print-making, Textile Design, Ceramics, and Photography. To preserve our culture and heritage, new subjects like Oriental Drawing, Perspective, and a theory paper on Indian and Western Aesthetics were introduced starting from the academic year 2008-09. The institution also offers a two-year Master’s Degree program in Fine Arts, specializing in Painting, Visual communication design and Sculpture.
Bachelor’s & Master’s Degree Program
Eligibility For Admission
- [For Master Degree program] A candidate who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in relevant subjects from this university or any recognized university.
- A teacher candidate with a Five or Six-year Diploma in Fine Arts/BFA in relevant subjects, with not less than four years of teaching experience in a college of Fine Arts affiliated with any university.
Degree Program
Practical Section: Life Study, Oriental Painting, Creative Illustration, and Creative Composition.
Theory Section: Aesthetics and Comparative Study (newly introduced in Sculpture).
Supply of Art Materials
Under a special revised sanction by the Government of Tamil Nadu, each student of this college is provided with free art materials worth Rs. 1000/- per annum.
Scholarships
Scholarships are offered by the Government of Tamil Nadu for students from backward, most backward, Adi-Dravidar, and Tribal communities.
The Tamil Nadu Oviya Nunkalai Kuzhu sponsors scholarships for the best outgoing final-year students of this college, recognizing their meritorious performance.
