College of Arts and Crafts, Kumbakonam

Infrastructure

Spread over 14 acres, the college features main blocks with studio facilities and expanded classrooms in the first and second stages of construction. New blocks for Master of Fine Arts studios, a library hall, and workshop facilities for sculpture departments have been built. A hostel for male students, initially accommodating 30, was constructed in 1985-86 and has since expanded to house more students including a separate hostel for female students in the campus. Following the master plan, additional buildings will be constructed to meet the institution’s growing needs.

Library

The college library houses a comprehensive collection of books, including publications dating back over 100 years and contemporary works on art. It offers over 6000 reference books, covering both Indian and foreign encyclopedias. The library continues to expand to meet the growing needs of the institution.

Computer Lab

The newly designed computer lab is equipped with 30 computers and multimedia software. An LCD projector facilitates the screening of world-class art movies, enhancing students’ audio-visual vocabulary.

Study Tour

Every year, the college organizes educational tours for students in three batches, covering South India, Middle India, and North India. Under this scheme, students gain unique opportunities to visit historical sites and art institutions. These tours enable them to explore India’s rich cultural heritage and artistic traditions. 

College Exhibitions

The college annually hosts exhibitions showcasing students’ work across various disciplines. These events highlight students’ talents and creativity, earning them public recognition and appreciation. Additionally, students participate in national group art exhibitions and inter-college competitions, bringing acclaim to the institution. They regularly compete in events organized by various institutions like Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, winning numerous awards.
